Berger Sand Finish Primer — Water-Based Texture Primer in Karachi
Berger Sand Finish Primer is a texture primer from Berger Paints. Available at Saify Paint House, an official Berger Paints stockist in DHA Karachi, it is used to build a sand-like, textured finish on walls.
Berger describes it as a high quality water-based primer, suitable for creating a sand-like effect and an antique finish. It is applied over a prepared surface, and Berger’s guidance is to seal the surface with WeatherCoat Pure Seal first.
Why Choose a Textured Finish
A textured finish adds depth and character to a wall, and it hides small surface variations better than a flat paint. It suits exterior feature walls, entrances, and boundary walls where a traditional look is wanted.
Texture work depends on the base underneath it. Berger’s guidance is to seal the wall first, so the texture sits on a stable surface.

Surface Preparation & Application
Berger’s guidance is to prepare the surface first by applying WeatherCoat Pure Seal, then apply the Sand Finish Primer over it. Make sure the surface is clean and dry, and free from dust, grease, and loose material.
Mix the product well before use, as Berger instructs. Apply it with a scraper, using the method Berger describes for this product, and work the texture evenly across the wall.
Berger says the primer dries in 2 to 3 hours, depending on the ambient temperature. In hot or cold weather, allow the full time before you move on, and check the pack for the coat count.
Common Mistakes With Texture Primer
The most common mistake is skipping the Pure Seal step. Berger says to prepare the surface with Pure Seal first, so leaving it out can leave the texture unstable.
Not mixing the product well is another. Berger says to mix it well before use, and settled material can give patchy texture. Working too fast is a third issue, since uneven pressure with the scraper shows in the finished surface.
Applying the texture in cold, damp, or rainy weather can also affect drying. Work in dry weather and allow the full drying time.
Care, Storage & Safety
Close the container properly after use and keep it upright, away from extreme hot or cold temperatures. Keep it out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes and skin, and rinse with clean water if contact occurs.
Choosing Between Berger Primers and Finishes
Saify Paint House stocks several Berger products for walls. Sand Finish Primer creates the textured look. For sealing new plaster before a smooth finish, ask about Berger Plastron Wall Primer or Berger WeatherPro Exterior Primer. For the sealing layer under the texture, ask about Berger Weathercoat Pure Seal. For exterior topcoats, ask about Berger Weathercoat Acrylic Exterior Finish or Berger Weathercoat Glow 365. Visit our Berger Paints range to compare them.
Where damp or seepage is present, treat the cause before texturing. See our Ressichem building care and waterproofing range.
Planning Your Project
Measure the wall area and plan the sequence: seal with Pure Seal, apply the texture, allow drying, then topcoat if you want one. Berger’s pages do not give a coverage figure for this primer, so our team will help you estimate the quantity. The product is sold in 20 kg packs.
