Why Putty Comes First

Application Guidance
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, loose material, and flaking paint. New plaster must be fully cured before putty is applied — if the plaster is still releasing moisture, the putty layer and everything above it will fail together.
Mix with clean water to a smooth, workable consistency following the ratio on the pack. Mix thoroughly and let it stand briefly so the material hydrates evenly before use.
Apply with a putty knife or steel blade in thin, even layers. Two thin coats consistently outperform one thick one — thick applications shrink and crack as they dry. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
Once fully dry, sand with appropriate abrasive paper until smooth and level. On ceilings, check the sanded surface under angled light before moving on; flaws invisible under direct light become obvious once the paint goes on.
Remove all sanding dust thoroughly — wipe down rather than just brushing off. Then seal before painting, since bare putty is porous and will absorb topcoat unevenly. Gobi’s Silverline Aqueous Wall Sealer is the matching product in the range.
