What a Sealer Actually Does
Fresh plaster, masonry, and sanded putty are porous surfaces. Paint applied over them without sealing soaks in unevenly — heavily where the surface is open, barely at all where it is denser. The result is patchy colour, uneven sheen, and a wall needing three or four coats to look acceptable.
Sealing closes the surface so it accepts paint uniformly. The first topcoat then covers properly instead of disappearing into the substrate, and the finished wall reads as one consistent surface rather than a map of the plaster underneath.
There is a straightforward cost argument here too. Sealer is considerably cheaper per litre than finish emulsion. Surface Preparation & Application
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, loose material, and flaking paint. New plaster must be fully cured before sealing — this is the single most common shortcut on Karachi construction sites, and the most common cause of coating failure.
Where the wall has been puttied, sand smooth and remove all sanding dust thoroughly before sealing. Wipe down rather than just brushing; residual dust is the usual reason a sealer fails to bond properly, and it is entirely preventable.
For walls needing smoothing as well as sealing, apply Gobi’s Silverline Wall Putty first, allow to dry completely, and sand level before sealing.
Stir thoroughly before use. Apply by brush, roller, or spray, thinning with clean water as directed on the pack. One coat is normally sufficient; highly absorbent surfaces may need a second. Allow to dry fully before applying the topcoat. Clean equipment with water immediately after use.
