Application Guidance
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, loose material, and flaking paint. New plaster must be fully cured before putty is applied — this is not optional, and rushing it causes the putty layer to fail along with everything above it.
Mix Sona Lapi with clean water to a smooth, workable consistency, following the ratio on the pack. Mix thoroughly and allow it to stand briefly before use so the material hydrates evenly.
Apply with a putty knife or steel blade in thin, even layers. Two thin coats give a better result than one thick one — thick applications are prone to cracking and shrinkage as they dry. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
Once fully dry, sand with appropriate abrasive paper until the surface is smooth and level. Remove all sanding dust thoroughly before painting; dust left on the wall prevents proper adhesion of the sealer and topcoat.
Apply a wall sealer over the sanded putty before painting. Putty is porous and will absorb topcoat unevenly if left unsealed — Gobi’s Aqueous Wall Sealer is the recommended water-based option for this stage.
