Gobi’s Matt Finish Enamel — Non-Reflective Enamel for Wood and Metal in Karachi
Gobi’s Matt Finish Enamel is a synthetic alkyd enamel formulated to deliver enamel-grade durability with a smooth, non-reflective matt surface. Available at Saify Paint House, your authorized Gobi’s Paints dealer in Karachi since 1999, it has become an increasingly popular choice for interiors where a modern, understated finish is preferred over traditional high gloss.
The alkyd resin system provides the same hard-wearing film as a gloss enamel — resistant to knocks, handling, and cleaning — but cures to a flat surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it. The result is a finish with genuine durability and a soft, contemporary appearance.
Why Choose a Matt Enamel
For decades, wood and metal in Pakistani homes meant gloss. Doors, frames, grills, and furniture were finished in high shine because that was what enamel offered and what durability required. Interior design has moved on, and matt enamel exists to serve that shift without giving up performance.
The practical advantage is how matt handles imperfect surfaces. Gloss reflects light off every ridge, dent, and filled repair — meaning older doors, previously painted woodwork, and weathered frames need extensive preparation to look acceptable. A matt finish absorbs light instead, concealing minor surface irregularities rather than advertising them. On renovation work with existing joinery, this saves considerable preparation time.
Aesthetically, matt enamel sits comfortably alongside modern interior schemes. Where gloss doors and frames can look stark against matt-finished walls, a matt enamel gives a consistent, cohesive surface treatment throughout a room. It is the standard specification for contemporary residential projects across DHA and Clifton.
The durability is unchanged. This is a genuine alkyd enamel, not an emulsion with a matt appearance — it cures hard, resists handling, and protects the surface underneath exactly as a gloss enamel does.
Gobi’s Paints has manufactured coatings in Pakistan since 1981 under ISO 9001 certified quality standards. Full technical specifications for this product are available on the official Gobi’s Paints website.

Surface Preparation & Application
Matt enamel is more forgiving than gloss, but preparation still determines durability — the finish may hide a small ridge, but it will not compensate for poor adhesion.
On metal: remove rust, scale, and loose material back to sound metal, then degrease thoroughly. Apply a rust-inhibiting primer before the topcoat — Gobi’s Red Oxide Primer is the standard choice. Enamel over bare metal will lift from corrosion beneath, however good the finish looks on day one.
On wood: sand along the grain and remove all dust. Fill nail holes and defects with wood filler, allow to dry fully, and sand flush. Apply a suitable undercoat or primer to seal the timber and give the topcoat an even base.
On previously painted surfaces: remove loose and flaking material, then sand any existing gloss to provide a key. New enamel will not bond reliably to an unsanded glossy surface.
Stir thoroughly before use. Apply by brush or spray, thinning with the appropriate solvent as directed on the pack. Work in thin, even coats — thick application causes sagging on vertical surfaces and extends curing time. Two coats give the best durability and colour uniformity. Allow full drying between coats; alkyd enamels cure by oxidation and need longer than water-based products. Clean equipment with the recommended solvent immediately after use.
Choosing Between Gobi’s Enamels
Saify Paint House stocks the full Gobi’s enamel range, and the right choice comes down to appearance and exposure.
Matt Finish Enamel is the contemporary option — durable, understated, and forgiving on imperfect surfaces. Best suited to interior doors, furniture, and modern schemes.
Gobi’s Gloss Enamel gives maximum shine and the easiest cleaning, and remains the stronger choice for exterior gates, grills, and railings where weather exposure and washability matter most.
For premium projects, the Gobi’s Gold Series offers enamels with enhanced flow and finish quality. Visit either DHA store and our team will walk you through the comparison.
