Surface Preparation & Application
Berger’s guidance is to apply two coats to plaster or rough cement render under three months old. The second coat goes on without thinning, as Berger advises. Let the surface dry before you apply the sealer, and remove any dust or loose material first.
If you need to thin the first coat, Berger allows mineral turpentine up to 1 litre per 4 litres of product. Do not exceed that ratio. Follow the drying instructions on the pack before you apply putty or paint.
Common Mistakes With Primer Sealer
The most common mistake is sealing a wall that is still wet. Berger’s Karachi listing advises applying the sealer once the plaster has had adequate time to dry, because sealing over a damp surface can trap moisture under the film.
Using only one coat is another. Berger calls for two coats, and the second must be unthinned. Stopping after one coat can leave the wall under-sealed, especially on porous plaster. Thinning the second coat is also a common error, since Berger specifically asks for it to go on unthinned.
Mineral turpentine is flammable. If you thin the product, keep the turpentine away from heat and naked flames, and work in a well-ventilated space.

Berger advises closing the container properly after use and keeping it upright. Protect it from extreme hot or cold temperatures. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with water and seek medical advice. Keep it out of reach of children.
