Ekotint Synthetic Primer — Primer for Wood and Metal in Karachi

Enamel finishes on doors, grills, gates, and furniture are only as good as the surface under them. A primer is what gives the enamel something sound to hold on to.
Why Prime Before Enamel
Bare timber and bare metal are both poor surfaces for a topcoat. Timber absorbs paint unevenly, so enamel soaks in patchily and the finish looks blotchy. Bare metal is smooth and sometimes oily, so paint has little to grip, and in Karachi’s humid, coastal air it begins to corrode quickly once it is left unprotected.
A primer deals with both problems. It seals and evens out the surface and gives the enamel a consistent base to bond to. That is why enamel failures, such as flaking, peeling, and rust bleeding through, so often trace back to a missing or poorly chosen primer, not to the enamel itself.
Skipping the primer to save money is usually a false economy. A primed surface needs fewer coats of enamel to look right, and it lasts longer before the job has to be done again.

Check the pack for which metals and which timbers it is suitable for, and for interior or exterior use.
Surface Preparation & Application
On wood: sand along the grain, remove all dust, fill nail holes and defects with wood filler, and sand flush. Dust left on the surface stops the primer bonding.
On metal: remove rust, scale, and loose material back to bright, sound metal, using a wire brush, scraper, or abrasive paper. Degrease the surface thoroughly, because oil and finger marks stop paint sticking. Prime as soon as you can after cleaning. Freshly cleaned steel starts to oxidise within hours in Karachi’s humidity.
On previously painted surfaces: remove loose and flaking paint, and sand glossy areas so the primer can grip.
Stir well before use. Apply by brush in thin, even coats, working the primer into joints, corners, and edges. Follow the thinning, coat count, drying time, and clean-up guidance printed on the pack, and allow the primer to dry fully before applying the enamel.

A full enamel job has three stages. Prepare and fill the surface first. Then prime it with this primer. Then finish with the enamel of your choice: Ekotint Gloss Enamel for a high-gloss shine, or Ekotint Matt Enamel for a non-reflective finish.
