Ekotint Gloss Enamel — High-Gloss Enamel in Karachi
Ekotint Gloss Enamel is an oil-based, high-gloss paint from Ekotint Paints, listed in Ekotint’s Essentials Assez Series. Available at Saify Paint House in DHA Karachi, it is made for wood, metal, and trim surfaces.
Ekotint describes it as giving a rich, durable shine while protecting against rust, moisture, and daily wear.
Why Enamel on Wood and Metal
Wall emulsion is made for walls. On a door frame or a metal grill it scuffs off within months and gives no real protection. Enamel is made for the surfaces that get handled, knocked, and cleaned.
An oil-based enamel cures to a hard film. On wood, that resists the knocks and wear of daily use. On metal, the film is a barrier against moisture, which matters in Karachi’s humid, coastal air, where unprotected steel corrodes continuously.
Gloss is also the most practical finish for surfaces that need regular wiping, such as doors, window frames, and trim.

Surface Preparation & Application
Gloss shows every flaw beneath it, so preparation decides the result.
On metal: remove all rust, scale, and loose material back to bright, sound metal and degrease thoroughly. Apply a suitable rust-inhibiting primer before the enamel, because enamel over unprimed steel can fail from corrosion beneath. Ask our team which primer to use.
On wood: sand along the grain, remove all dust, fill defects with wood filler, and sand flush. Prime bare timber before the enamel.
On previously painted surfaces: remove loose and flaking paint and sand any existing gloss so the new coat can grip.
Stir well and apply by brush in thin, even coats, following the thinning, coat count and drying times printed on the pack.
Getting a Good Gloss Finish
Gloss is the least forgiving enamel finish, because it reflects light and shows every flaw beneath it. A dent, a brush mark, or a patch of old paint that was never sanded will be more obvious in gloss than in any other finish. Time spent on sanding, filling, and priming is what separates a smooth, mirror-like surface from a patchy one.
Apply thin coats and brush in one direction, laying off lightly at the end of each stroke. Thick coats run and sag on vertical surfaces such as doors and gate bars, and take longer to cure. Two thin coats look better and wear better than one heavy one.
Working With an Oil-Based Enamel
Ekotint describes this enamel as oil-based. Oil-based paints generally need good ventilation while you work, so open windows and doors, and avoid painting in a closed room. They also tend to need longer between coats than water-based paints, so follow the drying times on the pack and don’t recoat early. Clean brushes with the thinner recommended on the pack, straight after use.
Gloss or Matt?
Gloss suits surfaces that are handled and wiped often, and places where a bold, shiny look is wanted, such as gates, grills, and doors. If you would rather have a quieter finish on interior joinery, Ekotint Matt Enamel is the non-reflective option. Our team can help you decide which suits each surface.
Planning Your Project
Count the doors, frames, grills, and railings before you buy, and note which need stripping, rust removal, or priming first. Our team can estimate the paint and primer you need from the coverage printed on the pack. Buy enough for the whole job at once, because paint from different batches can vary slightly in shade.
