Surface Preparation & Application
Matt enamel is more forgiving than gloss, but preparation still determines durability — the finish may hide a small ridge, but it cannot compensate for poor adhesion.
On wood: sand along the grain and remove all dust. Fill nail holes and defects with wood filler, allow to dry, and sand flush. Apply a suitable primer to seal bare timber before the enamel.
On steel: remove rust, scale, and loose material back to sound metal, then degrease thoroughly. Apply a rust-inhibiting primer before the enamel — coastal humidity in Karachi means unprimed steel will corrode beneath the film regardless of how good the finish looks initially.
On previously painted surfaces: remove loose and flaking material, then sand any existing gloss to provide a key.
Stir thoroughly before use. Apply by brush or spray, thinning with the appropriate thinner as directed on the pack. Work in thin, even coats — thick application sags on vertical surfaces and extends curing time. Two coats give the best durability and colour uniformity. If using as an undercoat, sand lightly once fully dry and remove all dust before applying the gloss topcoat. Clean equipment with the recommended thinner immediately after use.
