Application Guidance
The surface must be clean, dry, and free from all loose material including efflorescence, dust, grease, and old flaking paint. New plaster must cure fully before putty is applied — if moisture is still leaving the plaster, the putty and every coat above it will fail together.
Mix with clean water to a smooth, workable consistency following the ratio on the pack. Mix thoroughly and let it stand briefly so the material hydrates evenly.
Apply with a putty knife or steel blade in thin, even layers. Two thin coats consistently outperform one thick one — thick applications shrink and crack as they dry, creating more work than they save. Allow each coat to dry completely before the next.
Once fully dry, level with emery paper until smooth. On ceilings and wide walls, check the sanded surface under angled light before moving on; flaws invisible under direct light become obvious once painted.
