The Stage Most Often Skipped
Priming is the first thing cut when a job is running to budget, and it is almost always the wrong cut to make.
Bare plaster, concrete, and brickwork are porous. Emulsion applied over them without priming soaks in unevenly — heavily where the surface is open, barely at all where it is dense. The visible result is patchy colour and inconsistent sheen. The financial result is worse: the wall swallows the first coat entirely, and the job needs a third and sometimes fourth coat to look acceptable.
Primer costs less per litre than emulsion. Spending on one coat of primer instead of two extra coats of topcoat is straightforwardly cheaper, and it produces a better wall. On larger projects where the numbers scale, this single decision often affects the total paint bill more than the choice of emulsion tier.
Adhesion is the other half of it. A primed, stabilised surface gives the topcoat something consistent to grip, which determines whether the paint is still sound in five years or already flaking at the edges.
The water-based formulation makes this practical for real projects — low odour means occupied spaces can be worked in without disruption, and clean-up needs nothing more than water.

Surface Preparation & Application
The surface should be clean, dry, and free from all loose material including efflorescence and old flaking paint. New plaster must cure fully before priming — the most common shortcut on Karachi construction sites, and the most frequent cause of coating failure.
Where the wall has been puttied, sand smooth and remove all sanding dust thoroughly. Wipe down rather than brushing off; residual dust prevents the primer bonding properly, and it costs nothing to avoid.
For walls needing filling as well as priming, apply Nelson Bold Wall Putty first, allow to dry completely, and level with emery paper.
Stir thoroughly before use. Apply by brush, roller, or spray, thinning with clean water as directed on the pack. One coat is normally sufficient; highly absorbent surfaces may need a second. Allow to dry fully before topcoating. Clean equipment with water immediately after use.
