Ethyl Zinc Silicate Primer is a two-pack, solvent-based coating designed for maximum corrosion protection in demanding atmospheric conditions. With a zinc content exceeding 70%, this primer forms a hard, abrasion-resistant film that withstands temperatures up to 600°F (315°C), making it ideal for refineries, offshore platforms, bridges, mining equipment, and power plants.
Engineered for carbon steel substrates, it requires surface preparation to SA 2.5 (SSPC-SP10) or equivalent grit blasting for optimal adhesion. The product dries to touch within 30–90 minutes depending on temperature and cures fully in 48 hours at 20°C. It can be applied using brush, roller, conventional spray, or airless spray systems.
This matte-finish primer has a theoretical coverage of 4–8 m²/Ltr/coat and is packaged as a 4-liter kit (3L base + 1L activator). It acts as its own sealer and is compatible with epoxy thinners. Ideal for use in coating systems requiring extended durability and resistance to seawater, oil, fungus, and algae.
