Description:

Introducing Apexior No. 3, an advanced anti-corrosive coating designed specifically for the external surfaces of boilers, condensers, chimneys, and various industrial equipment. This high-performance coating offers robust protection against corrosion in environments where external surfaces are exposed to challenging conditions.

Apexior No. 3 is versatile, finding application on a range of equipment, including boiler drums, tubes, water walls, economizers, evaporators, steam accumulators, calorifiers, steam turbine casings, and water softeners that come in contact with water above 93˚C (200˚F) minimum.

Surface preparation is a critical step for optimal performance. All loose mill scale and rust should be meticulously removed, with blast cleaning to 2nd Quality BS 4232 recommended. In cases where blast cleaning is impractical, a combination of mechanical tools and hand wire-brushing should be employed to eliminate loose rust and mill scale back to a firm edge. The surface must be free from contaminants such as oil, grease, etc., achieved through solvent cleaning. Galvanized metal surfaces require thorough degreasing before coating, using a suitable solvent.

Application of Apexior No. 3 is streamlined, typically not requiring a separate primer. However, if blast cleaning is conducted, a holding primer of Epilux 66 Primer to 25 microns must be applied. For the finishing coat, three coats of Apexior No. 3 can be applied with a brush or roller. It is advisable to allow 24 hours between coats and a minimum of 24 hours after complete application to allow the system to harden. Adequate ventilation is crucial throughout the application process.

Drying time is efficient, with Apexior No. 3 drying in 3 to 4 hours. Overcoating can be done after 24 hours, and after the last coat, a 24-hour drying time is recommended to permit the system to harden. The coverage of Apexior No. 3 is estimated at approximately 9 to 12 square meters per liter at 38 microns DFT, depending on surface roughness. Conveniently packaged in 5-liter packs, Apexior No. 3 offers a reliable and efficient solution for external surface corrosion protection in demanding industrial environments.
